Princeton Preparatory Schools accepts applications year round. However, due to small class sizes, spaces fill up fast. Students are evaluated on the basis of readiness for school and potential for success in a Montessori classroom. Children who do not have prior Montessori experience applying to our programs must have an inherent love to learn and proven ability to work and learn independently. Successful applicants can easily work well with other students and self-manage a high level of responsibility and freedom in the classroom.

It is equally important to determine whether the parents’ educational philosophy is compatible with that of Princeton Preparatory Schools. Parents need to recognize that Montessori is a way of life. Princeton Preparatory Schools has a non-discriminatory policy relative to race, color, national origin and physical handicap with respect to the admission of students and the employment of faculty and administrative staff.

Enrollment into our programs is based on a determination by the Admissions Office that Princeton Preparatory Schools can meet the needs of the child/ren and is subject to availability.

Families who apply for mid-year admission are considered as space is available. Students at Princeton will be admitted based on established criteria:

  • Parent Commitment to Montessori Education: Parent and child must visit the school for a pre-enrollment conference (which includes a tour, observations in the classrooms, and meeting with the Guide and the child) to ensure the program will meet the needs of the child and to better understand the philosophy and program. Parents will also have the opportunity to attend Parent Education events at the school that are offered throughout the year.

  • Maturation Level:  The child must be able to participate and substantially benefit from this program without risk to himself or other children. The child must be toilet trained before joining the Primary Program (3 - 6 years), be able to communicate intelligibly, and be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of participating in the classroom activities.

  • Age Openings:  Children between the ages of 2 to 3 years only attend Half-day Toddler Montessori.

  • Children between the ages of 3 years and 6 years attend Primary Montessori. Children typically entering Primary Montessori attend 3 to 4 years before transitioning to Elementary to allow for a balanced multi-age environment.

  • Multi Age Co-ed Classrooms: Montessori classrooms function best with a balance of age and gender. Princeton Preparatory Guides will consider age and gender to ensure balance in the classroom.

If a place is not immediately available, you may request to be put on a waiting list. Children on the waiting list for the current year must reapply for acceptance the following year. The registration fee of $150.00 demonstrates your commitment to have your child attend Princeton Preparatory Schools and it secures your child’s spot on our waiting list. Once enrolled, the $150 goes towards the $500 New Family Fee.

Children on the waiting list with siblings already enrolled at Princeton will receive priority in registration provided there is an available place with age/gender specified.

Space is limited for the upcoming school year. Please fill out the tour form below to get started.
